Winter MINIFest 3 Recap

The 2019 version of Winter MINIFest was an unqualified success! All of the attendees participated on all of the runs, and a great time was had by all. On Friday, Bill and Mary Lou Hightower led a run to Roan Mountain in Tennessee. The weather was a bit nippy but the scenery was beautiful and the twisties were great up and over the mountain. Stops included the original Mast General Store and Annex in Valle Crucis. Lunch was in Banner Elk and Dinner was in Blowing Rock at Savannah’s Oyster House.

Jeff and Sherry Goodman led the Pottery Run on Saturday, first to Doe Ridge Pottery in Boone, then on to Maggie Black’s studio in Banner Elk. From there we took lunch at the Tartan Café in Linville and decided to cross the Swinging Bridge at Grandfather Mountain afterward. We beat the fog but not by much, and had a foggy ride back to Blowing Rock where we visited the Gallery of Bolick Family Pottery; then the Studios about three miles from there. We dined at the Speckled Trout to finish the day.
