The Bulldog Fun Run is an annual fundraiser for Greenville County Animal Care, presented by Upstate MINIs.
This year is the sixth annual event, and starts at 1pm on Sunday, November 5 at Greenville County Animal Care on Furman Hall Road in Greenville.
The Bulldog Fun Run is a unique motoring event featuring only MINIs. Last year, more than 35 MINIs participated. Participants are teams of two – a driver and navigator – and everyone leaves from GCAC at the same time, but headed in different directions. Over the course of the next three to four hours, they will go to five different locations around Greenville County and participate in events that are British in origin and nature. The participants collect points at each stop for how well they do at each activity, and take those points with them to the final destination, Fitzpatrick’s Food & Spirits on Laurens Road for a final activity.
The fun part is that the stops and activities are kept secret from the participants until just before they start – so everyone is on a level playing field as far as skill and experience. It’s not a speed run; everyone has plenty of time to get to all the stops and there are no points awarded for fast completion. The top point earner gets possession of a traveling trophy for the next year and a large stuffed bulldog (courtesy of Century MINI) to keep forever.
The fee is a donation of the participants’ choice to GCAC, and can be in the form of cash, check, or material goods that the shelter needs for operation. Last year the donation totaled $3200, up from $2500 in 2015.
