Meet at Ingles north of Travelers Rest on Geer Highway at 9am.
Drivers meeting at 9:15am, wheels up at 9:30m sharp.

As in the past, there is a participation limit of 21 cars.
RSVP’s are 1 space per MINI rather than spaces per person.
Tour payment of $16 per person is required after registration.
(ticket cost $15 + $1 for Square payment service fees).

Join Upstate MINIs on their annual History/Mystery Tour on Saturday August 19.
Hosted by Bill and Mary Lou Hightower, this will be a Moderate paced run.
We will be stopping at Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI) for a special tour. We were aware of the NASA tracking station in the late 60’s when all the back roads from Western Carolina University were unpaved. This was when the tracking station was open to the public and before it went dark under NSA.


Curious about this history hidden in our backyard? This installation of these radio dishes near Balsam Grove has been tracking objects in outer space since the 1962. We will learn about the history of the facility from the early NASA days, to the secretive period under NSA administration, to its current role as home of the Pisgah Astronomical Research Institute (PARI). Also they have a museum on site which is very interesting.

• The Tour will depart from Ingles on Geer Highway in Travelers Rest at 9:30 AM sharp.
• Registration is required and there is a limit of 21 cars.
• Tour at PARI will be 11AM-1PM and is $16 per person.
• After the tour we will drive to the Grand Olde Station on Lake Toxaway for lunch.
