It’s really another Covid year, so we’re going to give this largely social event another year to return to the way it was. However, the animals and humans at Greenville County Animal Care still need our help, so let’s have a twisty run to the Dragon and raise funds in the process!
The route has been mostly replanned… and the pace is MODERATE. That means this is NOT a frenetic speed run. There are some great twisty roads, but they wind through some awesome color in the mountains, and we’re going to enjoy that. We want this to be FUN for EVERYONE. When we arrive at the Dragon, everyone can run that 11-mile twisty thing at their own pace; because we’re all going to meet at the end to stop and enjoy lunch.
Route
Leg 1: Ingles to Cashiers, via US 276, Highway 288, Highway 11, then north on 130, Wigington Road to 107, north to Cashiers; rest room break at Subway. (10:20am)
Leg 2: Cashiers to Robbinsville, via Pine Creek and Walnut Creek Roads to US 64, north to Franklin, then Wayah Road to US 74, short jog to US 129 and up to Robbinsville; rest room break at Subway / fuel stop. (12:30pm)
Leg 3: Robbinsville to Deal’s Gap, 25 minutes up US 129, then proceed onto the Dragon. (1:30pm) We’ll re-order the MINIs run order leaving Robbinsville.
We should arrive at Deal’s Gap around 1:30pm. We’ll run the Dragon, have our lunches in the parking lot at the end, and then everyone can choose their own option for their route home.
Registration requires a donation (your choice) of $25, $50 or $100 to GCAC. This donation is of course, tax deductible and if you’d like to donate more, please bring a check to the run made out to GCAC and we’ll make sure it gets to them.
