All Day
Boneyard Beach Sunrise Expedition
Bulls Island, Cape Romain
North of Charleston SC
Coordinated by Jeff Goodman. We’ll drive to Charleston on Saturday and check into a designated motel. At dinner and after, we’ll discuss the photo expedition in detail. Jeff will provide setting tips for your DSLR cameras and help you prepare for shooting in the pre-dawn darkness. We’ll turn in early, as we’ll be driving to board the ferry at 4:15am, and it’s an hour’s ride to get to the departure point. We’ll travel by ferry to Bulls Island and then board a bus / truck to get us to the beach, arriving before dawn.
We’ll get out and hike a quarter mile to the beach and shoot photos while the sun is coming up in the east. Your photos will likely be pretty awesome. Here are some that Jeff shot in 2015 and 2016:

(my favorite. taken right after arrival in 2016, a 25-second exposure in the dark)
Oh, and be wearing long pants, long sleeve shirts. Skeeters will getcha otherwise.
Cost for this expedition is about $100 per person for the photo expedition only. The ferry ride is $85 and they recommend a gratuity.
Departure information will be decided and agreed upon by those who book the expedition.
Deadline for booking is March 31.
We all want to be together and this may fill up soon.
Jeff’s disclaimer: My camera gear is Canon; and I am not versed in Nikon, Olympus, etc. I can tell you my settings, but you need to be familiar enough with your own gear to translate. Also, camera phones have come a long ways since 2016. I have a friend who gets amazing photos of the freaking MOON with her Samsung… So your camera phone may be a good option as well..
