Horsepower Run update: We have less than 4 weeks until our mountain adventure!
PLEASE INDICATE IN YOUR COMMENT IF YOU ARE HORSEBACK RIDING…OR ONLY ON THE RUN
See my comment for example
After some scouting trips and phone calls and help from friends, we are ready to roll!
We will be departing from the Ingles on Geer Hwy at 8am on Saturday, October 5th to arrive at the Smokemont Riding Stables by 11:30. (There will be a quick snack/bathroom stop on the way up.)
Once we get to the Smokemont Stables, those of us riding will head out on a 2.5 hour guided trail ride to visit waterfalls and explore part of Great Smoky Mountain National Park. For those not wanting horsepower of the equine variety, Will is going to be taking you to play in some twisties, see some views and maybe to even slay a dragon…
After our ‘Horsepower’ adventures, we will meet for a late lunch/early dinner at the 1101 Main Steakhouse in Bryson City. After dinner there is the possibility of a run to Clingman’s Dome for the sunset and a group campfire with smores.
We are looking at possibly doing a drive to Cades Cove on Sunday morning. I’m still working on that…
Sonia & David Roberts have cabins in the area that that they rent and they are willing to have them available. Please get in touch with one of them if you are interested to get cost info and so that they can get it reserved for you! (They are going fast!!!)
Cabin info- this is the website for the cabins. To book 1 night for the run, it will need to be done directly with Dave. If you need his number, just get in touch with me. http://www.elashorescabins.com
The cost of the 2.5 hour trail ride is $87.50 per person. We are limited to 20 people for the ride. If you want to participate in the ride, let me know. The stable is being amazingly accommodating and letting us pay on the day of the event but I do need to let give them a firm number of participants on Monday, September 30th.
We also need to give the restaurant a headcount at the same time. So please let us know if you are joining us!
Note: If you want to participate in the ride/Saturday drive but don’t want to do the drive up with us on Saturday morning, you are welcome to meet us at the stable at 11:30.
For the horseback riders: Please dress for being outside and wear closed toe shoes. the stable does have a 250lb weight limit for riders.

This time we are coming on offroad trucks, recently we have got a Ford f150 truck currently we are using that for manhattan 24-hour towing service, so no horse riding this time. We are doing some planning with friends so maybe there will be a small troop of trucks.

Jim Milliken and I will be attending. No horseback riding. We have invited friends that have a Countryman. Their names are Kennie and Michaelanne Pagan. Don’t know whether they have joined yet but know they will. We reserved cabins for both of us. Looking forward to the event.
Bev and Alan would like to meet you for your meal on Saturday at 1101 Main Steakhouse in Bryson City. We will not be going on the horse or power runs but look forward to seeing everybody. What time do you expect to be at the restaurant?
